The first set of the timeline includes when you first set foot in the new city, and there is a <[Race] Mentor>. These NPCs are out to teach you what it really means to be your race, and perhaps some history and lore, as well. There is minimal, if any, mob killing, and most of it is a "gopher" task (go for this, go for that).
The second set (broke down into three parts) is the "History of <Race>" books, offering more lore in three different sections and quests. The books are empty, and it is up to you to "find" the missing pages. Each book has three sections to recover (As in Story 1, 2, or 3) and each quest offered is to recover the missing pages within each. These must be done in order, and the reward is unlocking the next Story, and then finally a book item you can place in your home.
Each race has the starting NPC, which is found in the city you start in after you leave the Isle of Refuge (or if you skip right to the city). Qeynos and Freeport racial histories begin near the entrances to the villages and districts in which each race first makes their home after leaving the starting island. In Kelethin, you begin racial eduction by questing in the tree city after completing the beginning quests in the Nursery. The same pattern holds true of Neriak and Gorowyn, with each city having specific quest lines that lead you from your starting area into the general city where you will likely make your start in the world.
To initiate the second part of the series, you must go to the Mage Guild in your city and purchase a "History of the <Race>" book from the Sage. this will start the above mentioned second part of the timeline.
